Show Up Today - Shine Tomorrow

A parent/guardian should contact the school if their child will not be attending school, will be arriving late that day, or is being dismissed early. Families can report attendance in multiple ways, but the preferred method is through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This allows you to enter absences, late arrivals, or early dismissals in real time. This is available for all WCSD schools and all grade levels, 4K-12th grade. Learn more here. Help Students Show Up and Shine

Set consistent morning and bedtime routines so your child is rested and ready.
Prep the night before: clothes, backpack, lunch, water bottle, and a quick assignment check.
Power down screens 60 minutes before bed; keep devices out of bedrooms.
Use one wake-up time every day (yes, even Fridays and Mondays).
Plan a quick, reliable breakfast - at home or at school.
Schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours whenever possible.
Talk openly about why showing up matters - even on tough days.
Stay in touch with your child’s school if you need support or have questions about attendance.
Make a backup ride plan with a neighbor or family member for those “curveball” mornings.
Track attendance on a family calendar; celebrate streaks and small wins.

Missed 2 days in a month or 3+ tardies? Don’t wait - contact the school to problem-solve early.
Getting to school is getting hard (morning routines, transportation, childcare, or health concerns)? Call us - we can connect you with practical supports.
Big change at home (new schedule, move, illness, stress)? Let us know so we can adjust and support your student.
You receive an attendance letter or automated alert? Please respond within 48 hours - early action prevents bigger issues.
Not sure who to call? Start with the school office or your student’s teacher - we’ll route you to the counselor, social worker, or nurse as needed.
